  • (Interpreted). Hi, everyone, thank you all for joining us today. I'm very pleased to report a solid quarterly result. This quarter we once again delivered ahead of our stated revenue guidance. This strong performance demonstrates how our collections have over time continued to improve, driving our brand equity and retail outlet expansion, which now has more than 1,616 outlets and flagship stores.

  • Our sales fair in Chengdu last month was very successful, with many analysts and investors in attendance [participating towards] a number of our retail outlets in Chengdu and surrounding cities and as well as the flagship stores. And the participants attended the fall and winter 2012 collection fashion show [to the sale price] of the sales fair. They are very pleased with the collection.

  • Following the fashion shows participants observed more than 1,000 retailers from across China placing their orders. The total orders value from the biannual sales fair increased by 11% as compared to the previous year. Despite a warmer than expected winter last year and expected softening of the China economy, where distributors and retailers appear to be taking a cautionary approach in placing orders, we believe this strong performance in double-digit growth demonstrates the strength of our 2012 fall and winter collections.

  • This first quarter we have added one new distributor and our distributors have increased to 39. In the past we -- previously the Company had one distributor managing both Liaoning and Jilin provinces. At the current stage of our strategy we are focusing on appointing one distributor per province who will focus on maintaining and expanding that specific local market.

  • Currently we have four provinces that are administrated by two distributors managing and expanding the market. As sales increase over time we intend to further dissect the market by adding more than one distributor per province who will be able to further penetrate district locally as the economy and fashion market expands.

  • Looking ahead we are excited by the growth opportunity ahead of us, especially with regards to our new collection, as we continue to move the business forward and build a foundation for sustainable growth.

  • With that, I would like to turn the call to -- back to the CFO, Mr. Ng. He will review our operating and financial results. We appreciate your continued support and belief in Xiniya's future.

  • Thank you, Mr. Xu. We are pleased to report another quarter of solid results. During the first quarter of 2012 Xiniya recorded revenue of RMB212m, an increase of 33% year over year. This greatly exceeded our guidance range, which has -- which was for a 23% to 28% increase. The number of units delivered increased by approximately 10% to 1.2m units, from 1.1m units during the same period last year.

  • During the first quarter of 2012 our authorized network of retailers offered a net addition of nine new retail outlets. As of March 31 2012 the total number of stores selling Xiniya's brands was 1,616. Please refer to the press release for a breakdown of retail stores by outlet type.

  • Gross profit increased by 34.9% to RMB72.3m in the first quarter of 2012, from RMB53.6m in first-quarter 2011. Gross margin was 34.1% compared with 33.6% in the first quarter of 2011. Selling and distribution expenses increased to RMB11.2m compared to RMB9.1m during the first quarter of 2011. These were an increase in rack expenses for authorized retail outlets of RMB6.9m and flagship store expense of RMB1.2m.

  • The increase was offset by the decrease in advertising promotion expenses of RMB6.3m. Since July 2011, as part of our -- the Company's overall strategy to unify the image of its authorized outlets, the Company has been paying for the shop racks for the authorized retail outlets opened on and after July 2011. This expenses was approximately RMB6.9m in the first quarter of 2012. Flagship store expenses was RMB1.2m, arising mainly from the new flagship store opened in Quanzhou, Fujian Province in November 2011.

  • During the first quarter of 2012 administrative expenses were RMB8.3m, up from RMB3.5m in the first quarter of 2011. This increase is due to an increase in the number of administrative staff and salary increases. Income tax expense was RMB14.7m compared with a tax expense of RMB10.8m in the first quarter of 2011.

  • Net profit was RMB43.2m in the first quarter of 2012 compared with RMB32.1m in the first quarter of 2011. Earnings per ADS were $0.12 per ADS in the first quarter of '12 -- 2012, exceeding prior guidance of $0.04 to $0.09. This compared to earnings of ADS of $0.08 during the first quarter of 2011.

  • Finally, our financial position as of March 31, 2012. The Company had trade receivables of RMB203m (sic - see presentation) arising entirely from the sales during the first quarter of 2012. Trade receivables outstanding as of December 31, 2011 have been fully collected as of March 31, 2012.

  • Now let's turn to guidance. We'll be providing guidance for the second quarter of 2012 at this time. We expect to realize revenue growth approximately 19% to 21% in the second quarter of 2012 and earnings per ADS are expected to be in the range of $0.03 to $0.04.

  • Chenyi Lu - Analyst

    Chenyi Lu - Analyst

  • Thank you, I have three questions. My first question is regarding the 2012 fall and winter sales event. I know the sales order is about 11% growth year over year. Can you give us a view as to what make out this 11% growth as to what the price increase versus what the volume increase? That will be my first question and then I'll come back for two more questions.

  • Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

    Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

  • In terms of ASP, it's about 31% arising from the -- well, 31% arising from ASP. And in terms of volume it's the -- it's a drop of 15%.

  • Chenyi Lu - Analyst

    Chenyi Lu - Analyst

  • I say again, you're talking about ASP by increase by what percent; 31%, or is it 10%?

  • Decrease by 15%.

  • Chenyi Lu - Analyst

    Chenyi Lu - Analyst

  • 15%, okay. Okay. So this build to the question [related] to these sales orders, as in the prepared remarks the Company said that the reason for the lower sales order is because of the weaker economic growth and also some winter inventory build during the last -- this year and last year's warmer weather in China. So if the economy does turn around in the second half of this year do you think it's possible that you guys can -- the distributor can place additional orders so that they can have better sales?

  • Qiming Xu - Chairman and CEO

Qiming Xu - Chairman and CEO

  • (Interpreted). As mentioned earlier, because of the warmer weather and expected softening of the China economy we tried to be conservative in these sales figures. If the China economy turns around we will have the reorder at the sites for our retailers and distributors. This generally will be around August or early September when we have our spring and summer sales fair.

  • Chenyi Lu - Analyst

    Chenyi Lu - Analyst

  • Great. Okay, great. Let me move on my next question. The first-quarter gross margin is 34.1%, which is higher compared to first-quarter 2011. And I know this year the Company changed the rebate plan that you guys will give rebate to all the distributor who have met the criteria. So can you give us a view of gross margin in 2012? Do you expect gross margin to improve year over year, or it's still -- can you give us a view?

  • Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

    Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

  • Because of the rebate is given to all of our distributors, in the past it's the top 20, so with that it will have a negative impact on the GP margins. Although we have a growth in the GP margins in the first quarter, for the full year the GP margins will be 20% to 30% -- 20 to 30 basis points lower because of the margin given to all distributors.

  • Chenyi Lu - Analyst

    Chenyi Lu - Analyst

  • So, basically, you're saying that for the whole-year basis the gross margin is going to drop about 20 to 30 basis points compared to 2011. Am I correct?

  • Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

    Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

  • Yes, this is correct.

  • Chenyi Lu - Analyst

    Chenyi Lu - Analyst

  • Okay. My final question regarding the store expansion plan and the distributor addition plan. I know that this quarter the Company adds one distributor and also nine net new stores in the first-quarter 2012. So can you give us an update as to how many distributors the Company plans to add, in addition to one, by the end of this year? And also how many more stores -- or total stores the Company going to add in 2012? Would that be more back-end loaded? That would be great.

  • Qiming Xu - Chairman and CEO

Qiming Xu - Chairman and CEO

  • (Interpreted). The plan is to add one to two new distributors each year. We have added one this year. If this year we have the suitable candidates we'll proceed accordingly.

  • For the new store expansions the plan is to have about -- around 150 to 250 new stores and the net addition should be above 100. The reason is because for the older stores we plan to restructure them either to expand their existing location or move to them a better location, or upgrade their renovations. So with that then we'll have a temporary impact this year. And we believe this will contribute to our future sales.

  • Hi, how are you? This is Brian Cenzek calling on behalf of Adrienne. I just have a few questions. Actually, a lot of my questions were already answered and I appreciate the color you guys gave on some of that stuff. But the first thing I want to ask is about the sales upside in the first quarter here increased 33% versus your guidance of 23% to 28%. I was wondering if you could speak a little bit about where that upside came from.

  • Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

    Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

  • We had the sales fair in September 2011. For the full -- for the first half of this year the full (inaudible) was going to be [36%]. If we deliver 33% on the first quarter it will mean our second quarter's delivery will slow down. The full six months will be 26%.

  • Brian Cenzek - Analyst

  • Brian Cenzek - Analyst

    Brian Cenzek - Analyst

  • Okay, great. And then I know you were speaking about gross margin for the full year previously [being] down about 20 or 30 basis points. I was wondering if you could talk a little bit more about the cadence of how we can see that progress over the next few quarters. Specifically the second quarter, how we should be looking at modeling gross margin and, actually, specifically SG&A, as I try to get down to your guidance of $0.03 to $0.04 here. If you could give me any color on that, that would be great.

  • Chee Jiong Ng - CFO

  • Okay, great. And then my last question, I just wanted to ask about if you guys have any comments on the cost environment as it relates to Chinese labor wages. Or, cotton, do you expect to see any benefit in the back half of the year, or how you guys are looking at that for the remainder of the year here?

  • Right. Because, I'll just repeat, as US investors this type of situation could not exist in the US. If a company had $3 a share in cash and their stock was trading at $1.40, they would go out and they would buy shares, which would give shareholders -- they would buy more shares than the tiny bit you're buying via the 10b5, which would give people confidence in the Company's -- that everything is operating correctly and that management has confidence in the Company.

  • And, in fact, if you bought back shares you would increase the value of the Company, because you would be buying back shares at half their value per share of cash.

  • For the same-store sales growth, before I answer your question, we have to say this to you. That this information is collected manually on a weekly basis from the retailers to the -- to our distributors and on a monthly basis distributors send this information to the Company. From that we compute the same-store sales growth for stores opened for more than 12 months. So all this are done manually. It may not be accurate. Based on this feedback the same-store sales growth is about 16%.

  • As for the ERP, we be -- we are testing the system right now and we will be testing this from July onwards for [Peter Chokwan]. If there's less issue on the ERP system we will install this ERP system in selected [retail] stores.
